Day 1: Arrive in Auckland
You will arrive in Auckland in the early morning by your international flight. Upon your arrival in Auckland you will be welcomed by our CTS representative who will escort you to your hotel. Free at leisure in the afternoon. Stay in Sky City Hotel or similar.
Day 2: Auckland – Paihia (B, D)
This morning, we will drive you over the Harbour Bridge and past and glorious beaches of the Hibiscus Coast, into the ancient native forests of Northland. A stop in Whangarei. After lunch we visit the Waitangi Treaty Gounds, see where the Maori chiefs and British Crown signed the controversial agreement that created the new nation in 1840. Dinner at local Chinese Restaurant. Stay in Scenic Circle Bay of Islands Hotel or similar.
Day 3: Paihia – Hole in the Rock Cruise – Auckland (B,L)
A fantastic cruise this morning through game fishing waters to Cape Brett Lighthouse, Motukokala Island and Grand Cathedral Cave, and passing through the Hole in the Rock. Dolphins , whales, seals and many birds are often seen in these waters, and a stop is made at Urupukapuka Island for walking or swimming or simply relax. Back on land, this afternoon we will drive you back to Auckland.
Day 4: Auckland – Waitomo Caves – Rotorua (B,D)
This morning we follow the Waikato, New Zealand’ s longest river, en route to Waitomo Caves the famous subterranean limestone caves and glide silently by boat through the renowned Glow- worm Grotto. Tonight we treat you to a traditional Maori Hangi (feast) followed by an entertaining Maori Concert. Stay in Heritage Hotel or similar.
Day 5: Rotorua – Auckland (B,D)
A half day Rotorua sightseeing tour is included for today. First, we take you to Te Puia, home of the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and the Thermal Reserve, world famous for its mud pools and spouting geysers. Next we visit the Agrodome, New Zealand’s unique performing Sheep Show. Stroll through Paradise Valley Springs, a tour and wildlife sanctuary set admidst native trees and ferns. You will travel back to Auckland this afternoon. Buffet Dinner at Sky Tower for tonight. Stay in Sky City Hotel or similar.
Day 6: Auckland (B)
No visit to Auckland is complete without a drive to the summit of Mt. Eden for a panoramic view of Auckland’s city and harbour. We will also escort you to visit American Cup village, Mission Bay, Harbour bridge, taste this city of Sail. Stay in Sky City hotel for tonight.
Day 7: Auckland – Christchurch (B,D)
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight for Christchurch. Upon your arrival at the airport you will be welcomed by our CTS representative. A city sights tour will highlight the main attractions of Christchurch – “the most English City outside England”. Dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Stay in Copthorne Hotel Central or similar.
Day 8: Christchurch – Mt. Cook – Queenstown (B,D)
Travel Across the Canterbury Plains to reach Mt Cook at noontime, a rare opportunity for an optional flight overviewing Mt Cook ‘s Ice Falls, snow field and glacier, before you journey over the Lindis Pass and through the Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown. We will have the Skyline Gondola and the buffet dinner will at the summit restaurant. Stay in Copthorne Hotel Queenstown Lakefront (Cnr Frankton Rd and Adelaide St, Ph:03-4428123).
Day 9: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Te Anau (B,L,D)
We start your day by heading through beech forests and alpine valleys to the Homer Tunnel and down into Milford Sound. We board our launch for a cruise on the Sound, with breathtaking views of Mitre Peak, Bowen and Starling Falls cascading into the sound. We stay overnight in Te Anau after the tour to Milford Sound. Enjoy a seafood Chinese dinner in local restaurant. Stay in Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas or similar.
Day 10: Te Anau – Queenstown (B,L)
We will return to Queenstown this morning. Enjoy a cruise aboard the hundred-year-old steamer, the TSS Earnslaw, and a BBQ lunch at Walter’s Peak sheep station. Stay in Copthorne Hotel Lakefront or similar.
Day 11: Queenstown – Fox Glacier (B,D)
Its farewell to Queenstown today as we cross the Southern Alps via the Haast Pass to the rugged splendor of the West Coast. We stop at the South-Western World Heritage Park for an introduction to the history and natural wonders of this internationally recognized area. Continue up the coast to the glaciers of Fox region. If weather permitting, we can choose to take an optional ski-plane ride for a spell-bounding view of Fox Glaciers and a glacier walking, and excursion on the glacier, for bush walks or simply soak up the beauty of snow- capped mountains contrasting with the deep greens of the native bush. Dinner at the hotel. Stay in Fox Glacier Hotel or similar.
Day 12: Fox Glacier – Arthur’s Pass – Christchurch (B)
We travel on via Hokitika, with a visit New Zealand greenstone factory. In the afternoon we will travel along the Southern Alps with high viaducts, spectacular views and ever changing scenery. Stay in Copthorne Hotel Central or similar.
Day 13: Christchurch – Auckland (B)
Free for leisure in Christchurch today. This late afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight for Auckland. You will connect for your onward flight this evening.
